Get to Know Us
We're often asked where the name Betacon comes from, what it means. Well, Betacon means family. We started this company for our family, and the families of our employees. It means legacy. Our mother's maiden name is Betancourt and we're a construction company, so the name is a combination of who we are and what we do. The meaning goes much deeper, though. Our company honors our mother, our father- an innovative engineer, and all those who came before them. Our work ethic comes from a long legacy of hard-working people on both sides of the family.
As a young man, our maternal grandfather worked for an American machinery importer in Havana, Cuba. It wasn’t long before he had the entire inventory memorized. He went to business school, became fluent in English, and rose quickly through the company ranks. When the American owner retired, he sold the company to our grandfather, who then expanded it to become one of the largest importers for Caterpillar, John Deere, FarmAll, and International Harvester in the Caribbean.

With almost 50 years of combined residential construction, commercial construction, marine construction, and site development experience, brothers Mike Alvarez, Frank Alvarez, and Jose Alvarez started Betacon, LLC to pass on their knowledge and diverse work experience to future generations. Betacon is their legacy to grow and protect. This is the same level of care we offer our clients; and just as we would welcome you as a guest in our homes, we welcome you to our Betacon family. Our fundamental business principal is simple: "How can we improve the quality of the lives of our families, our employees, our community, and our clients?"

Betacon believes the more we do in-house, the better we control our schedule; and subsequently, the better we can accommodate our client's schedule. This is why we have our own dedicated crews and a select group of business partners that we are loyal too and they in turn are loyal to us. Vested crews and loyal partners is what counts when things need to get done.

Site Development
Betacon is a full site development company, our site development division handles everything from clearing, earthwork and grading to potable water, fire protection water, reclaimed water, storm sewer and sanitary sewer underground utilities. Our construction layout is handled in house and we use state of the art GPS machine control equipment. Our approach is to strictly adhere to the manufacturer's specifications; and meet or exceed, the jurisdictional requirements. We also aspire to reduce maintenance and service issues for both the utility provider and the end user. As a result, our projects are guaranteed to have the longest service life possible.
Asphalt Paving
This is Betacon's meticulous work ethic on display! Most of what we do is buried underground or hidden behind a wall and never seen by the client or anyone else. Asphalt paving, however, is the final step in site development; and because this work is actually visible to our clients and the entire community, we like to incorporate a little artistic flair! Betacon takes great pride in ensuring our base and paving projects are aesthetically pleasing as well as long lasting. We consider this part of Betacon’s work, a visible signature on a job well done by fathers, sons, daughters, uncles, nephews and nieces.
As lifelong residents of Florida and passionate boat owners, it was a natural progression for us to establish a marine construction division within our company. From driving our first pilings at just 16 years old off the coast of Melbourne, FL, to constructing our own docks and decks, we learned the importance of quality craftsmanship on the water from a young age. Our uncle instilled in us not only a love for the sea and boating but also the values of being responsible stewards of our coastline and building for durability. Now, 35 years later, we can still return to that very first piling we installed and tie our boat to it!
